A Light-Filled Condo | North Toronto

A compact North Toronto condo that needed to work harder for one busy professional who didn't want to compromise on beauty or function. Select images have been digitally enhanced to illustrate design intent.

The objective was to improve everyday livability to simplify movement, increase usable storage, and make the home feel comfortable and manageable despite its modest footprint.
The project extended throughout the home, with updates to layout, finishes, and furnishings that made the compact space feel open, cohesive, and quietly refined.

The Challenge

Previously, the circulation was congested, storage was awkward, rooms were poorly lit and sightlines were interrupted by unnecessary visual barriers. The home lacked both clarity and ease; spaces felt disjointed and inefficient. Given the limited square footage, addressing these issues was critical to elevating the client's experience of her home.

The Design Solution

The renovation focused on making the condo easier to use day-to-day, without changing the building’s structure:
  • Reallocating a little space from the dining area gave the kitchen a proper workflow, with more counter space and storage where it was needed most.
  • Removing unnecessary bulkheads and a non-structural wall opened sightlines, unified the living areas, and let natural light reach further into the condo.
  • Layered lighting replaced dim, shadowy corners, with recessed and decorative fixtures that work for cooking, daily routines, and evening use.
  • Furniture scaled to the space and positioned to preserve open walkways makes moving through the condo feel easy and unencumbered.

The Result

The home now feels expansive, luminous, and intuitively organized. Circulation is fluid, storage is seamlessly integrated, and each room serves daily routines with understated efficiency. The home feels like it was always meant to look this way. The result is a home she loves living in and is proud to share.
If you’re considering a full renovation or furnishing and want a home that feels lighter, calmer, and easier to live in, I'd love to hear about your project.
Every room now has a sense of harmony and purpose, and the flow Stacia created has brought a new level of comfort and functionality to my everyday life. I absolutely love living here now and I can’t wait to start entertaining to show it off!
